If you've come from visiting Lori at Organized Chaos, you're in the right place! If you've just happened across my blog and would like to play along with our Fantabulous Cricut Crawl, start here. For our Fantabulous Cricut Crawl, each Design Team member will be featuring a specific element related to using your Cricut. There will be a wide variety of techniques and elements that will be featured so make sure to check out each DT member's blog! There will be prizes along the way AND there will be a grand prize for the participant that incorporates the most featured elements on ONE project!!! How fun is that?
The element I've chose to feature for the crawl is...
the FAMOUS Gypsy!
Many of you own the gypsy and use it mainly to cut your images. Although this is a great idea, (and truly its' purpose) I like to use the Cricut to come up with designs. I love the fact that in one sitting I have access to all of my cartridges and that I can design in one page using ALL the cartridges I own. I must admit that what I design might not always end up being my actual creation (like in this example), but I can start to formulate some ideas.
As many of you know, my grandmother passed away on the 19th of April. I wanted to create a project where my mother could keep a picture of her mother and her father (who also passed away). So this is what I designed while laying in bed chatting with my hubby... :)
In this design I have elements from 4 different cartridges: StoryBook, Potpourri Basket, Straight From the Nest, and Pink Journey. Even though the cartridges are all different I can combine them and design with all at the same time because I was using the Gypsy!!!
When I started designing, this is the frame I had in mind. It has sentimental value but I no longer find it attractive so I wanted to change it. I painted the frame with Acrylic Black and yellow paints and used a heat gun to dry it.
I then covered the frame with a White Wash....
and finished the look of the frame by Glimmer Misting! :)
Finally I added all of the elements that worked well with the picture I chose to use .
I understand that not all of you have the Gypsy, but if you do please leave me a comment telling me how you incorporated your Gypsy into your project. I will be giving a Cricut Cartridge Caddy from Scrapcessories to a random participant. In order to qualify you must become a follower of my blog, post your project over at FCCB, and leave me a message telling me you have done all of the above. If you do not have a Gypsy your challenge is to incorporate some type of swirl from any Cricut cartridge you may own into your project. :)
Now it's your turn! See if you can use your Gypsy to create your own project. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Next stop...Penny's blog, Light Whimsy. Go see what Penny has in store for you today... And when you're done, make sure to link up your project to FCCB's Fantabulous Cricut Crawl post to be entered into the contest! Try to see how many elements you can add to your project!!!
Happy Crawling!

I really want a Gypsy. Thanks for the tips.
This is gorgeous, Nana! I love the aged look of the frame...compliments the photo perfectly! I sooooooooo want a Gypsy!
Thanks for all your work, Nana! :)
I use the Gypsy for just about all my projects. It is the best purchase I have made, buying the Gypsy in Sept. at the HSN launch.
No Gypsy but I enjoyed your project just the same. Great frame.
Very nice job. I have been looking at the gypsy-very hard this weekend. I have the design studio-so I talk myself out of. But I want it.
Beautiful frame and perfect for that picture. I want a gypsy!
I love the way you altered the frame - I never would have thought about using glimmer mist but it adds such a nice touch!
Your altered frames look awesome! I blogged about the Cricut Crawl and your personal giveaway: http://vanillabeancreations.blogspot.com/2010/05/winner-winner-chicken-dinner.html
Suh-weet creation Nana!!! love all the mixed media elements you used in creating your frame!
I love my gypsy....I think I have become a welding queen. LOL....What a lovely project you shared with us. I never have tried the white wash. Need the product name to know what to buy. Looks like fun.
smiles...Tammy
Such a lovely frame Nana, I love old photos and what a treasure this will be for your mother. Thanks for sharing! Fantastic job!
I absolutely love the gypsy... :) It gives me such freedom of design! :) If you are trying to see wether you should get it or not, I say yes!! :)
Thank you for your sweet comments! :)
Tammy, you just gave me such an awesome idea... I am going to create a Gypsy Welding tutorial... :)
Darn...no Gypsy here but I do use my CDS quite a bit. Guess I'm moing on without this entry, :(
Thanks for your tips. I have been tempted to get a gypsy but have not broken down as of yet. I love the frame!!!!
I hear the Gypsy is a great tool. I think your G-ma would love what you did here. Beautiful job!
Smiles!
Gwen
The gypsy is so great. I love your work!
I just got my gypsy in April and I love it. I am now following your blog and I used my gypsy for my entire layout that I am uploading at FC in a moment for the challenge. Thanks for the chance to win a great prize.
I am lucky enough to have a friend who loans me her Gypsy since I do not own one. I really want one but I have to save up for it first. I love this frame Nana. So pretty. I use the Gypsy mainly to weld letters since it is a big pain to glue one letter at a time:) Thanks for sharing other ways to use the Gypsy. I used it in this week's FCCB challenge to weld the title of my scrapbook page together.

Great Cricut Crawl. I am following you and I posted a project using your swirl element (don't have a gypsy) from the Cricut Crawl

Thanks for the challenge! I don't have a Gypsy but did pretty much everything for the Cricut Crawl challenge using my DS. I don't cut without it! I did add some swirls to my layout though. You can find details on my blog (http://smallbitsofpaper.blogspot.com/2010/05/lady-lenore-layout-fantabulous-cricut.html). I posted at Fantabulous Cricut as well. Thanks for letting me play!
I love your work - and so want a gypsy!! I do not have a gypsy and did not use a cricut cut swirl but did use the cuttlebug divine swirls in my project - not sure if that counts but just wanted to share.
Here is a card I made for the cricut crawl and cut out a swirl from my card front (no gypsy here :( )
I have had a lot of fun with this challenge.
